Business Interruption Insurance Case Study: Aesthetics and Beauty business
Many businesses and industries suffered substantial loss of trade due to the Covid-19 pandemic, as a result of social distancing and lock down restrictions imposed.
One of our clients is an established beauty clinic that has been running since 2006. They have over 50 years’ experience within the beauty/aesthetic industry.
Their business was closed 23 March to 5 July 2020. Again, like most businesses, this business had a valid Business Interruption Insurance policy in place in March 2020 and had been paying substantial premiums for business protection. Despite numerous attempts to contact their insurance provider and discuss their policy and business support, they couldn’t get a straight answer and were growing increasingly frustrated and struggling financially.
They needed to act fast, they had heard about the work RLK Solicitors had been doing and recent success with the FCA test case and instructed us in April 2023. We fought hard for this client, which involved Arbitration proceedings which we won on their behalf. This client received their payout in June 2024, just over a year later. Not only did we get the money that they were owed, but interest on top.
We are also continuing to fight for further payments for clients for the distress and inconvenience caused by the refusal to pay the claim initially in 2020 and the treatment of the clients throughout the claims process. Having won the Arbitration earlier this year (known as the Salon Gold Award), the claims process with RLK is now considerably shorter and we have been able to deal with claims for clients in a matter weeks.
RLK Solicitors have extensive experience in challenging insurers on behalf of businesses and securing maximum compensation. The specialist team are experts and can support you to navigate the process with ease, support document gathering and secure the maximum compensation for you.
If you are reading this and think you too may be able to challenge your insurer, please get in touch with the team today.
You only have until 2026 to make a claim – which is just over a year away.
